Finally Retired

Our son came to visit this week for a couple of days. We really enjoyed hanging out together. On Monday afternoon we decided to play a round of golf. Though he is a serious golfer he has learned to have fun while playing the game. Now I have always been an outdoors type of guy but golf has never been my game. On Monday afternoon September 8, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. on the 5th hole at the Silverhorn Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas, I officially resigned from ever playing golf again. By the 5th hole I had lost count of how many golf balls had disappeared from my bag. I was sore from my wrist to my shoulders. It became the most expensive golf cart ride I have ever taken. I will leave it at this or I will become what I despise ... a big whiner. So Monday was a beautiful day and I thoughly enjoyed being with my son on the golf course. The 6th through the 18th hole was fantastic. I became quite an accomplished chauffeur. One last note... My clubs are for sale.

I have a strange suspicion you might pull a Lance Armstrong and do it again someday...

the texan seems to know you pretty well, dad. And if he does, then he also knows that IT WILL BE A PERFECT EXCUSE TO GET NEW CLUBS!!!

Nah. I think Dad means what he says. I predict he won't set foot on a golf coarse again. There's no shame in knowing when you suck at something. Maybe golf isn't his spiritual gift. I suggest Shuffle Board. Competition is fierce, I hear. BTW, I suck at golf too.
