I personally didn't wait, but I paid someone to wait for me. He just called and said he was sixth in line at 6 p.m. and now has it in his possession. He will ship it overnight and it will be here tomorrow. Call me sick, call me crazy, call me anything you want, but call me tomorrow on my new phone

June 29, 2007 iphone Day

Well, today is the day. June 29, 2007, the day iphone is being released. You might wonder why I am not already in line at the Apple store or at an AT&T store. I have made several provisions for getting an iphone today. If none of them work out then I have the next best thing working for me. It is called patience. Patience is a very good thing even though it is not my strong suit. But it is reliable and always works. So there you have it!

I give up!

OK, the wallpaper is going. When both my daughters share my wife's taste, how can I win. This is the final day the bathroom will look like this. This weekend our regular guest can see new pictures of the newly remodeled bathroom adjoining their bedroom and begin to book their reservations. I hope everybody is happy now.

I know you will see it my way...

Preacher's wife has me busy again. She got a bee in her bonnet about remodeling the upstairs bathroom. There is just something about me sitting quietly in my recliner that seems to bother her. So this week she has me at it again. First, she decided to just put a door between the guest bedroom into the bathroom. Then she thought we needed a new vanity and linen cabinet. Then she thought we needed a new mirror over the new vanity. It was then that we discovered the old wallpaper behind the old mirror. At this point we hit an impasse. I fell in love with the wall paper that had been hidden for years behind the old mirror. I told her it matched the decor of our family room. She refuses to try and find the same pattern so we can do the whole bathroom. We are still speaking ---- just not about the bathroom. I would appreciate some supporting comments, hoping together we could change her mind.

It happened on the day I didn't quit.

It happened on the day that I had planned to drop out of college. After chapel service I walked past the administration office and headed downtown to my little part-time job at Electrical Equipment Company where I sold lighting fixtures. It was a hot Friday afternoon. A nice but persistent lady entered the store and wanted to buy a fixture and have it installed that same afternoon in her home, because she was having out of town guest on Saturday. I told her all our electricians were busy and it would be Monday before we could get to her unless she was willing for me stop by on my way home and do it. She agreed. So after work that day I placed the fixture in my car and headed to South Campbell Street. We had agreed that since I wasn't a licensed electrician that I would do the job for $10.00. I quickly went to work installing the fixture saying very little about me or my family, except that we were students at Baptist Bible College. When I finished and was cleaning up she handed me $20.00. I reminded her our agreement was for $10.00. She smiled and said she and her husband knew what it was like for a young couple to be working their way through college. I said thank you and proceeded to put my tools in the car when out of the clear blue I heard her from the porch say, "please wait just a few minutes". I waited for about ten minutes and she came out the front door with a large box of groceries. She smiled as she handed it to me and said, God bless you, your family and your future. I said thank you, then got in my car and drove away. I was so happy I was crying. You see what she didn't know was that I was going to quit college that day because we had no money to buy food. So many things like that have happened throughout our life. I don't remember the address, nor do I know her name, but God used her that day to encourage and remind me that He is always watching out for his children. So if you are thinking about quitting today, DON'T!! God only knows what might happen.

A few little words made all the difference...

Preacher's Wife and I had been eeking out a living for the first three years of Bible College. Things had been tough for some time and I was exhausted and discouraged. I decided that I'd had all that I could stand and would stop by the administration office after school that day and check out. I knew it would be right for me to get a full-time job and support my family the way they needed and deserved to be supported. We had a guest speaker during chapel that day and, to be quite honest, I don't remember anything he said with the exception of these few words. Somewhere close to the end of his message he clapped his hands and said, "Listen to me! If you don't hear anything else I say, hear this." He proceeded with these words, "You don't determine a man's greatness by fame or fortune as the world does, but by the amount of discouragement he can withstand and remain standing." His words were like a sharp dagger in my heart. At that moment I decided to do whatever it took to finish school and become a success on the basis of what God called success. Those few words changed my life's direction and my family's future provision. I am reminded that if we are not careful, we will allow the messenger of good news to keep us from receiving the good news. You see, I had some issues with this man in certain areas but I refused to allow them to keep me from receiving his life-changing words. Today I remembered and thanked God for Dr. Jerry Falwell.
Amazing how the mind works. I was sitting on the patio drinking coffee at our youngest daughters home Saturday morning. I was listening to the birds and just meditating and this is what I noticed on top of the house next door. Now you would recognize this as a satilite dish and a High Definition Television antenna. The antenna caught my attention and reminded me of the days our

Can't you wait until 5:30

OK, I admit I am the final decision maker in our home, (somebody has to take the rap) and I accept that. I also accept the fact that I OK'd a new puppy being bought. I can even acknowledge that I enjoy the little fella from time to time. But will that little thing ever sleep all night. I am so tired of standing in the backyard at 2:30 a.m. in my underwear waiting for it to poop and pee that I don't know what to do. I have given counsel all my life and now I am in need of some counsel on this one. HELP!!!!

Going after that one lost sheep.

Would a man not leave the 99 to go after that one lost sheep? This man did.

Matching your purse with your puppy.

I flew out today for New Orleans and will return tomorrow, then Preacher's wife and I will head toward Dallas. I just couldn't pass up posting this picture. I guess before too long Preacher's Wife will be matching her purse and her shoes with her puppy.
